COURSE INFORMATION
Modeling & Simulation Staff Officer Course
This three-day course provides a broad overview of modeling and simulation (M&S) policy and activities of the Department of Defense (DoD), with discussion of how DoD employs M&S in support of training, analysis, acquisition of new products and systems, test and evaluation (T&E) and experimentation. The course focuses on M&S terms, concepts, applications, and information resources, preparing attendees for positions that require conversancy in these topics. Students will gain familiarity with major M&S concepts, policies, organizations, programs, activities, and issues within the Department of Defense. Two (2) Continuous Education Units (CEUs) are available for this course as well as twenty-one (21) Continuous Learning Points (CLPs).
Course Goal
The goal of this course is to provide students with a foundation of knowledge that will enable them to make informed decisions about the use of M&S in training, analysis, acquisition, operations, T&E and experimentation activities.
Course Site Information
The MSSOC will be conducted at the Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation, 3051 Technology Parkway, Orlando, Florida.
Student-incurred costs will be $795.00 (U.S. Military/U.S. Government Civilian) or $1095.00 (All others) for the three-day course, which includes course material, a comprehensive modeling and simulation (M&S) reference CD, a recommended M&S reading list, and course certificate. Each individual student will be responsible for housing, transportation, and food, if you have to travel to the course location. The appropriate dress for the course is "business casual". Be sure to bring a sweater due to temperature variation in the classroom.
Directions
Directions from Orlando International Airport
1. Look for the sign directing toward "NORTH EXIT - ORLANDO VIA 436 AND 528". Turn right off the exit road onto 528 (Bee-line Expressway) toward Kennedy Space Center. You will see a sign "TO 417 - EASTERN BELTWAY".
Note: When you come to 417, the sign will read "Central Floriday Greenway" it is part of the beltway.
2. Exit 16, take 417 North (exit is on right but swings back left over 528). You are now on the Central Florida Greenway. Pass through the toll plaza ($1.00) and continue north to the East-West Expressway (Highway 408).
3. Exit 33a "EAST TO TITUSVILLE" will put you on the East-West Express (Highway 408) headed east. After passing through another toll plaza ($1.00) continue east to the end of the freeway which will be Central Florida Research Center Park.
4. Make a right on Ingenuity Drive.
5. Make a left onto Science Drive.
6. Make a right onto Technology Parkway.
7. Make right into AFAMS parking lot (first enterance on the right).
Directions from Interstate 4(I-4)
1. Take Highway 408 headed east. Follow to the end of the freeway, which will enter into Central Florida Research Park.
2. Make a right on Ingenuity Drive.
3. Make a left onto Science Drive.
4. Make a right onto Technology Parkway.
5. Make right into AFAMS parking lot (first enterance on the right).
6. Make left on Alafaya Trail.
7. Make right on Science Drive.
8. Make left on Technology Parkway.
9. Make right into AFAMS parking lot (first enterance on the right).
